Natures Evolution Armour and Patternation.

Natures:Evolution Armour and Patternation While considering a new professional working practice within Art and Design parameters I have always considered print making an exciting and interesting skill to wish for moving forward. Within new technologies the arena of print making has increased considerably. New photographic industrial machines means that peoples choices can be fine tuned towards a more personal approach. Bespoke designs are becoming more and more accessible to the majority of people who are interested in gaining a more personal shopping experience. Since becoming a designer some 20 or so years ago I have noted an interest in printed fabrics, I however choose to study knitwear design as I was interested in textiles as well as fashion and knitwear bridged a cap for me. However I believe since becoming a parent, I stopped running my fashion business to concentrate on my family and took to teaching originally Art and Design however I know teach a number of subjects across a wide range of learners age group and skill sets. It is a very interesting and fulfilling job role. However I am still a keen designer and have set my mind at learning and creating printed textiles with extra hardware(haberdashery) for interiors and fashion. While considering this new skill it has become apparent that dissecting in detail all my different influences and processes a new and immensely structured way of following a pathway of designer directions for the viewer to consider as an interesting look inside the mind of a creator. Therefore I will be discussing in a lot more detail the why and reasons for my particular methodology this will include various links to previous work, life experiences and family history. I will start with a deeply paired down approach to my type of working practice skills set. The main research within what I look for in order to create are Colour ,texture and Patternation. When designing I am always considering ranges of designs and in this case it is fabrics using tradition and modern technologies. Colour is a key aspect to my work, it doesn't have to have any colour however precise colour and fabric use are exclusively selected for the best outcome. Secondly texture which is necessary for a tactile approach, it doesn't however have to be 3d it's purely its functionality and purpose that links to exacting directions of importance for the consumer, that is the viewer the appreciator that is important to consider in great detail. Patternation follows which can in fact be an detail an embellishment a finishing technique or a pattern. The pattern could be placed , all over or motifed. Patternation can however be limited to another area of design i.e it could be separate from the design itself. Within these three areas of choice one main criteria is an absolute must and that is mood and affinity to embrace a feeling of romanticism, organic, historical morphing into contemporary is also I must do within each creative element I choose to create. What has been interesting for me over the last couple of months is that I have changed my medium (material chooses and it has made it even more clearer why I design and the purpose of what I create no matter what the end product becomes. Creating has always included for me a lot of juxtaposing of detailing within complex modernity's, in order to create new evoking cutting edge directional designs, there is however a need to be simplistic at the same time. I will be looking at all of my previous skill knowledge and adding them into a new why of creating fabrics for interiors and fashion. Mixing contemporary design concepts with historical reflections and the reasons why will be one of my key discussions and research while print making and hardware designing for interiors and fashion. The reasons for choices are much more detailed than one might of thought. I will be analysing key points in terms of Psychology, anthropology and ancient philosophy.

Knitting for fun and fashion.

Knitting Stitches

Knitting is an art in which thread or yarn is transformed into fabric by way of a procedure which comprises pulling loops through each other. The procedure can take place using hand or machine and there are various styles and methods to use. Different variations of threads and needles can be used to make different outcomes.

There are two types of knitting: weft knitting and warp knitting. Weft knitting is done by hand or machines while warp knitting is done by machines only. Knitting can be done using a number of stitches. The main knitting stitches are knit stitch, purl stitch, knit 2 together, yarn-over and stockinette stitch.

Knit stitch - this is created by interweaving loops with one another one after the other. One needle is used to pull a loop of yarn through a stitch on the next needle.

Purl stitch - the yarn is held to the front of your knitting and the right needle is inserted from back to front into the first stitch on the left needle. Use the right index finger to wind the yarn around and down the right needle in a counterclockwise way. Pull the right needle with the yarn through the old stitch backward and release the old stitch to create the purl stitch.

Knit 2 together - as the name indicates, this is knitting two together. The right needle is inserted into the second stitch off the tip of the left needle ensuring that the first stitch is caught with it. Bring the yarn over and up then down. Catch the yarn then slip the old stitches off.

Yarn-over - after a knit stitch, take the yarn across the knitting from the back toward the front then knit the next stitch. The extra stitch that is produced on the row is called a yarn-over.

Stockinette stitch - this is the most common knitting stitch which involves knitting one row and purling the other. This is a simple method that is ideal for those who are apprentices.

HOW TO MAKE FIMO

Similar to knitting, fimo is a handcraft in jewelry creation. Fimo beads are colourful and are worn as jewelry particularly among teens. Here's how to make them.

2. Cut it into penny-size balls. The sizes must be equal.

3. Roll each ball, one by consecutively amid your palms to form a cylindrical shape. Vein patterns should be created on them.

4. Push the knitting needle through the middle of the beads to fascilitate threading later on.

5. Hang the beads on the cake pan for them to harden and retain their shape.

6. Put beads in the oven in a hanging position and bake for 30 minutes at 2650 Degree Fahrenheit (1300 Degree Celsius).

Designing a T-shirt and getting it made.

Printing On Shirts And T Shirts

Author: Robert Palmer

Getting t-shirt printed is liked by everyone. T-shirt printing presses make sounds as the warm weather approaches because they make loads of t-shirts for sports tournaments, company barbecues, and favorite corner bar. These days t-shirts have become a universal symbol of good times and brand awareness worldwide. One cannot take the responsibility of printing of t-shirts lightly as it affects the business a lot. Whenever a t-shirt printing project comes off poorly, the brand comes in a bad light. One should not panic on getting an order of printing t-shirts. On following some simple steps, you can save yourself lots of heartache and dollars.

Experience is the biggest weapon in this world. Once you get familiar with work then it becomes an easy task.   The best technique of printing t- shirts is screen printing.  In case you are doing one-off shirts, heat transfer paper is fine. Also it is great for working out your design ideas, too. If the time comes to do a big run of shirts, you'll likely go the screen printing route. Secondly one should leave plenty of time for t-shirts to be printed. You should be clear about the drop dead date for delivery of the printed t-shirts. One week should be added in a week's worth of cushion and work the schedule backwards.

Third step to be followed is to limit the number of colors in the design. One should simply avoid usage of more and more colors as by doing so the cost increases. Thus a large amount of money can be saved by cutting down on the number of colors. Also one should create the artwork in a vector drawing program. In case you want to do your computer design work in a vector drawing program, such as Adobe Illustrator, Corel DRAW, or Macromedia Free hand then do not use a paint program such as Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. Thus generally speaking, the stencils need to be cut from vectors, rather than pixels (paint).

Also you should have a design pro handle the prep work. A killer logo might have been designed by you but it should be made sure that it will print properly and economically. In case you are working with a good t-shirt printer, you should be able to hand off your design and have them take care of all of the technical details. One should also know that they may very well charge you for that service. A person in the industry of printing t-shirts should always take pre orders. Also you should get folks to commit to reserving their shirts before you place the order. By doing this one saves in the long run. Also you should not order more shirts than required.

Trends for Spring.

Womens Clothing Trends For Spring 2010

Author: Louis B Jones

Fashion experts and ramp show trends are suggesting that 2010 will bring back a lot of the older styles that were once popular. Some of these trends might not seem so appealing but in later months you will see them all over the place. Womens clothing trends are always evolving and changing. Some trends in womens clothing last but just a mere second in the fashion world and other trends make monumental history. It is up to you to decipher what trends suit your body and make you look attractive.

One noticeable aspect of tshirts this year is that shoulder pads are coming back in fashion. Yes they were a big hit for Womens clothing in the 1970’s and 80’s. This style makes you look taller and well defined. This trend in womens clothing would look proportionate on average and tall women. Short women tend to look butch in this type of womens clothing so it is generally not recommended for them. Chain embellished tshirts are also going to be trendy in the next couple of months. Even formal wear have started appearing with long dangly punk styled chains. Some chains come attached to the tops and others can be removed and used on other womens clothing. Black chains look really cool with white colored tees and blouses. The idea is to look punk and feminine at the same time.

This spring expect to see a lot of mint green and coral combinations. This combination will be offered in makeup, womens clothing, shoes and more fashionable accessories. These colors of womens clothing look extremely attractive on olive skinned women. Peaches and pink colored clothing suit women with lighter skin tones. Nude colors are also going to be fashionable colors for womens clothing but you have to be careful or you can look washed out and drab.

Another blast from the past are fringes. Fringes are being adding to tights, tops, skirts, and other womens clothing. This was last fashionable during the 80’s and it seems like it would actually be a hit with certain types of womens clothing. It is a different look and can be horrible on one person and great on the next. It’s important to get a friend’s perspective when buying womens clothing that is so different. They should be able to tell you honestly if it suits you or not. Then based upon your own opinion and theirs you can decide whether you want to invest in this type of womens clothing for your wardrobe.

Double denim is the latest trend in France and should be a UK fashion trend by the end of this year. You need to wear a denim top and something denim below to pull off a double denim look. You could opt for denim skirts, shorts, pants or overalls to wear below. Above you could wear a tshirt with a denim jacket unbuttoned or tied in a knot across the stomach. You could experiment with this trend if you have a number of denim Womens clothing in your wardrobe. By mixing and matching you could see which combination looks best for the double denim look. Now that you have had a peek at the womens clothing trends for this year you can manage your wardrobe accordingly.

Hermès bags fashion show spring / summer 2010

Author: Anna Millman
Many new proposals signed Hermès Spring / Summer 2010. Are you curious to know what has produced

the inspiration of Jean Paul Gaultier? Then read on to discover all the news.

The parade of Hermès Spring / Summer 2010 was definitely one
of the most eagerly awaited by all those of the Paris Fashion Week. The word
Hermès rachiude all a wonderful world, which runs through the history of fashion
handbags giving us unsurpassed.

How can we forget in fact two of the most popular bags of
history, the Hermès Birkin and Kelly? Two scholarships that have changed
the way you think the stock market, no longer a mere accessory but an expression
of their personality.

Dedicated to two icons of fashion, entertainment and
history, like the mythical glamorous Grace Kelly and the icon Jane Birkin, they
have gone through two Hermes bags free of fashion and its ever-changing
cycles, becoming veritable fetish for all the (few) that if women can afford and
unattainable dream for the other (many).

In every collection Hermès repeats the two exchanges
that are more this French maison, in a look that is renewed from season to
season. The fashion show for spring-summer collection
2010 was devoted to tennis, sports chic for excellence,
so here's Kelly renew their look for the occasion.

Gaultier fact apply to the bag icon brand a
portaracchetta courts, transforming it into a sports bag and no longer just an
accessory pouches. Kelly, who can vote in our survey, is available in classic
shades quite like the white, blue and red.

But there are certainly more traditional versions of
Kelly, and especially more valuable, such as those in snakeskin and white sand.
The parade also sees the protagonists Mini Kelly and Clutch, the smallest of the
classic bag models dedicated to Princess Grace, in precious leathers like
alligator.

How could he fail then the
Birkin bag and the
other en of the Maison, which is revisited in a version I think of great effect.
Gaultier fact, the effect achieved with a "trompe l'oeil" that is drawing the
flap on the bag and the characteristic closure but in such a realistic way to
make it look good. But it lacks the model "posh", which perhaps we will soon see
the arm of Victoria Beckham, sand-colored crocodile leather.

But of course Hermes space to other exchanges. It aims for
the new collection especially on clutch, carried out as usual in precious
leathers like crocodile or calf leather, characterized by a particular closure
jewelry metal. The colors are pretty classic, ranging from white to black,
passing through dark red.

Self help tips on living a nicer life style.

Living a Happier Life – Use These Tips to Make it Possible

Author: Mark J Walters

We always wish happiness to each other at birthdays and on New Year’s Eve, but the reality is that this is not always easy to achieve. However, this does not mean that you should despair and consider it to be mission impossible. You have to keep in mind that this depends on you only – on your thoughts and actions. Here are some tips on living a happier life. They will work for you as long as you really want things to be this way.

Be positive and optimistic. You might consider this piece of advice on living a happier life to be way too obvious, but if you do not keep this basic rule you are simply doomed to be miserable all the time. Always believe in yourself and in your abilities. When you have difficulties or simply feel down, you should think of all the things you can be happy about. Do not dig too deeply. Having a home and family and friends who stand by you is something that many people can only dream of.

Socialize as often and as intensively as you possibly can. One of the great problems of the world we live in is that it makes us more introverted and less willing to trust and share with others. Try not to avoid being in the company of others and by staying at home all the time. Instead, try to meet new people and to maintain good relations with your existing acquaintances and friends. Go out more often and never miss an opportunity to have a quick chat with your colleagues at work.

The daughter of a wealthy automobile business sales manager father, who ran a large business with is father and brothers formed a basis for her future entrepreneur skills. With an Artist mother and former fashion designer Victoria's artistic skills where easily recognised by her mother and her teachers from an early age.In her own words she explains during an earlier interview.

"I can remember when in junior school if I painted or draw a picture. They would always end up on the walls of the corridor's and classrooms.I never draw just one picture I liked to draw a series based on colour, texture and theme.I was inspired by the great masters that I saw in Art galleries and books.
My mother went to Art college and I guess I was born with Artist genes.
I continued my desire to create by making numerous amounts of Clothes for my Cindy doll's and then followed this by making my own clothes.
I asked my mother to show me how to pattern cut when I was aged 5 years and have created clothes ever since."

Mixing Global Artifacts found during her globe trotting days has created a styling mood artitypical of many of Victoria's collection. The Western globe trotter meets tribal influences has dominated the Catwalks for many years of which Victoria has and does emphasis this in her work sometimes just in her colour palette, other times in her finishes and detailing.
Moving from Liverpool to Nottingham after studying Art at Liverpools famous Art college, she went on to completed a degree in Fashion/knitwear.After graduating
Victoria gathered experience designing for a number of companies,Sabre menswear in London an architypical English traditional menswear label. She freelance designed while at University living in Florence and New York for a period of time.Gaining a creative global globalisation inspiration, typical of her design style and trade mark.Victoria had gathered knowledge of marketing, fashion merchandising, and fashion design from her initial design jobs before she decided to create her own brand.

The Original Sample label was established in 1989 during the fashion grunge era of the early 90's.Victoria's work mixed ethnic inspiration with western style, upbeat and innovative styles adorned her fashion studio. The label helped popularise the knitted hat and scarf as a new and definitive stylish iconic look worn by the fashion elite. The knitted beanie become a fashion accessory not seen in the fashion scene since the 60's and 70's.Striped beanies and long Doctor who scarfs.Celebrities sporting bag hats and plaited hats, rasta tassel hats were worn and famed in a number of soap operas and game shows on TV. Tunic a line style sweaters and cardigans with vintage style cotton lace from Nottingham were trimmed onto a natural Eco cotton knit range.Mono tone colours were a strong colour inspiration black/ecru.Traditional Norwegian cardigans with strong tapestry floral braids and antique silver clasps adorned the early fashion range of Original Sample.

Inti ally being sponsored by the Princes Youth Business after failing to gain funding through local banks. The business started with a minimum grant and loan to buy machines and initially trade at craft fairs, music festivals and large organised raves. It was not long before Original Sample notoriety took hold and the business achieved a UK Princess Trust Award for being The best New Business venture in 1991.The prize was a quality position at a well known international trade fair in London. The show was then known as The London Show,it is now called Pure and is held in the Business design centre in Islington. It proved to be a success where the business started to wholesale to small independent stores and larger department stores throughout the World.Wholesale customers included Harrods of London, stores on the Kings road,Chelsea and further a field Sax's 5th Avenue in new York and many more.Victoria also won another award via the Princess trust which gave her the privileged to design and create fashionable ski hats for then young prince's Prince Harry and Prince William of which she received a personal thank you letter from Prince Charles.
The new label ventured down to London to create a strong retail customer base, starting to sell direct to the public at the infamously famous Camden Lock Market in North London, where the likes of Red or Dead label was formed and traded. Many a success story can be atoned in regard to starting sales on market stores.Marks and Spencers being one of the most famous market stalls turned Super power chain store known globally.
Victoria's customer base grew and incorporated famous musicians, actors and designers including Sade,Oasis,Take That.Popular soap stars for example Angela Grithiths who now has her own day time TV show. The famous actor Hughin Macgregor frequented Original Samples store and the acclaimed Robby Coltrain was also a customer. The fashion designer favorites who purchased at Original Sample has to be Christine Lacroix who used to purchase the vintage brick-brac which was sold to compliment the clothes. Not disimilar to the product rangeofthe label Paul Smith who also bought styles of the market store and who eventually bought wholesale for many year.Victoria Meadows has won two British fashion awards being the wholesale designer behind the soft accessories range for one of Paul Smiths awards with special empahasis on soft accessories. The award sharing continued when her customer French Connection gained a British fashion award for special emphasis on soft accessories.Being part of a team who has gained the famous acclaimed award twice has inspired Victoria to continue to design classic items with a fashion twists giving her products its uniqueness.Customers from the Parisian fashion celebrities also included Ralph Lauren who bought Victoria's Spring/summer sample range of 1995 to create cushions for his lounge. The range was based on the seaside of the 1950's era,Santi fa holidays using Linen and denim knit in traditional tuck knit textures and thin stripes.
The famous Anna Sui was also an earlier customer and she even explained how she was inspired by the early Original Sample soft accessories range. The bohemian styling and live style inspired the designer to work towards an Eco friendly early ethical business policy which continues today.

The business continued to grow opening another stall on Camden selling Interior design items which developed into two retail stores based in Nottingham. The business basis of the stores re created a small Camden lock style emporium,a re look at a 70s' head shop. The Originals stores sold artisan crafts from around the world.Including the Original Sample range which of t-shirts with vintage patches and tapestry backpacks, vintage style Norwegian cardigans and soft accessories, hats and scarfs.
The business later split into two and the wholesale company continued to manufacturer in the UK and wholesale globally.Eventually specialising in purely soft accessories hats and scarfs mainly for the Japanese market.

Victoria decided to slow the business down in the early part of the 00's to find a personal life after trading at the Pret a Porter static show for many years as she wished to find a partner and settle down which she achieved in 2004, getting engaged and having her first child in 2005.She continued to design selling freelance designs through a New York sales agent in New York.Selling designs to DKNY,Tommy Hillfigger and Donna Karen. She continued to create and has since established an on-line store based in New York.
Etsy.com is one of the worlds most vibrant handmade market place on line.Offering millions of unique items for sale.Connecting shoppers with independent creators and designs.Full of inspiring handmade goods.Providing a customer base for a large number of Artists and makers. The site comprises of handmade goods, craft supplies and 20
plus year old vintage goods and up cycled items.Sustainable ethical values are strong within many of there on line designer lead stores.

Victoria is the archetypical entrepreneur recently taking time off to spend quality time with her family.Undoubtedly her earlier fashion business has been an inspiration for her and a number of small business's that have since specialised in soft accessories manufacturing in the UK.However Victoria wants to concentrate on designing a broader fashion range.Wishing to spend more time sourcing quality production overseas to expand her new business which she has relaunched while being a full time parent for her young daughter.Ethical fashion using vintage fabrics and trims were possible using hand made processes to maintain a low carbon footprint for each of her designs is the philosophy behind all the products in the Original Sample range.

Designers Profile-The early years.

Designing...How did you get started?
I can remember when in junior school if I painted or draw a picture.
I asked my mother to show me how to pattern cut when I was aged 5 years and have created clothes ever since.
The fashion direction which my career has taken can be affiliated to my parents as my mother was a former Fashion designer before she married my father. My father was the son of a statesman and a QC and therefore always dressed smartly and never dressed down.My fathers style of dress was accentually English aristocratic and classic.
I love to design with elements of classic and traditional bringing, colour shape and detail into a contemporary setting.
Embellishing and accessorising the classic's in dressing has always influenced my work.Creating designs with longitude and longevity has always been a strong influentual in my design work.
My etsy site is relatively new as I am just returning to work after an extended maternity leave. My daughter is now in nursery school so I am wishing to re start, relaunch my former fashion house.
